There will be seven long weekends in 2020 as announced by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) on Monday (8 April).

The holidays will fall either on a Friday or Monday in 2020.

The Friday holidays are Good Friday on 10 April, Labour Day on 1 May, Hari Raya Haji on 31 July and Christmas on 25 December.

The Sunday holidays are Chinese New Year on 26 January, Hari Raya Puasa on 24 May and National Day on 9 August and the following Mondays of these holidays will be public holidays.

According to the ministry, with the amendments to the Employment Act, which will take effect from April 1, employees who are required to work on a public holiday are entitled to an extra day’s salary at the basic rate of pay.

The employer and employee may mutually agree to substitute a public holiday for another working day as an alternative, it added.

Another option for the employee is to grant time off in lieu, based on a mutually agreed number of hours, for working on a public holiday for the following group of employees:

– Workmen earning more than $4,500 a month;

– Non-workmen earning more than $2,600 a month; and

– All managers and executives.

选举局也敦促所有选民可通过VoteQ.gowhere.gov.sg茶轩投票站的排队情况。
