At a cost of $1.78 billion, it is no surprise that Changi Airport Singapore has the world-class resources and facilities to top every other airport in the world and achieve world’s best in the hearts of air travellers everywhere.

Set to open on 17 April, the giant doughnut-shaped, 10-storey structure will feature the world’s largest indoor waterfall, a “forest valley” with 3000 trees, walking trails, a playground and more than 280 shops and restaurants. It will also connect to terminals one, two and three, which cover both Qantas and Singapore Airlines flights to and from London.

On 27 March 2019, Changi Airport had been named as the World’s Best Airport for the seventh year running in the Skytrax World Airport Awards ceremony held at Passenger Terminal Expo in London, United Kingdom. This win makes it the 10th time for Changi Airport to claim the World’s Best in its 20-year history.

This year, the awards had been dominated by Asian hubs, with three Japanese airports featured in the top 10 as well. The second and third spots were awarded to Tokyo Haneda and Seoul Incheon, while Narita’s unique running track design for the Olympics in 2020 landed the airport in 9th place.

Nevertheless, no other airport has quite the edge like Changi, which also won awards for the World’s Best Airport Leisure Amenities, Best Airport Hotel (Crown Plaza), and the Best Airport in Asia.

“To be voted the World’s Best Airport for the seventh consecutive year is a truly fabulous achievement for Changi Airport, and this award continues to underline the airport’s popularity with international air travellers,” Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax said.

“Changi Airport is very focused on continually improving the customer’s airport experience and innovating with new product and service features. The opening of Jewel Changi Airport in April 2019 looks set to add another unique dimension to the experience for Changi Airport customers. Winning this award as the World’s Best Airport is a very clear recognition of the team effort amongst all staff at the airport who contribute to Changi Airport’s success,” Mr Plaisted added.

CEO of Changi Airport Group Lee Siow Hiang expressed his pride and gratitude towards the honourable achievement made possibly through the strong support, dedication and passion from the airport partners and workers in delivering the best experiences to their passengers daily.

“We thank our passengers for their continued support. Their vote of confidence motivates us in our pursuit of service excellence and pushes us to continue redefining what an airport can be. As we launch our newest icon Jewel Changi Airport next month (April 2019), we look forward to sharing with passengers and airport visitors the unique Changi Experience in a new way, with an expanded range of world-class facilities, offerings and experiences,” he stated in Changi Airport’s Facebook page.
