Travellers should expect heavy traffic flow through the land checkpoints at Woodlands and Tuas from Friday (15 March) to Sunday (24 March) as the March school holiday approaches and are asked to expect delays and advised to adjust their travel plans where necessary.

Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) noted in a press release on Wednesday (13 March) that traffic is expected to be particularly heavy on weekends from 15 to 17 March, and from 22 to 24 March.

ICA also reminded travellers not to bring in prohibited items such as firecrackers, ‘Pop-Pop” or chewing gum.

If travellers bring in dutiable or controlled items such as eggs, meat products and potted plants, they should proactively make declarations to our officers prior to checks, it noted.

ICA noted many instances of queue-cutting at both land checkpoints during peak periods, advising travellers against this as it can cause severe congestion and compromise motorists’ safety.

They are also reminded to observe traffic rules, maintain land discipline at all times and cooperate with checkpoint officers to ensure a safe environment at the checkpoints, it said.

The authority also advised motorists to check the traffic situation at Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints through the One Motoring website or via the Expressway Monitoring & Advisory System (EMAS) installed along the BKE and AYE respectively before embarking on the journey.

For more Traffic Information, travellers can also call the traffic information hotline at 6863-0117, tune in to the radio, visit One Motoring website or MyTransport.SG portal, or visit ICA’s Facebook page for traffic updates at the land checkpoints.
