Grassroots leader helps build close to 5,000 BTO flats for HDB

A full-page advertisement appeared on ST today (31 Dec) congratulating Mr Von Lee Yong Miang on being conferred the Public Service Star (BBM) this year.

He was also awarded the EY Entrepreneur of the Year for 2018 in the Engineering and Construction category.

He is the Executive Chairman of Expand Construction Pte Ltd. His company came up top this year for the Enterprise 50 2018 Awards.

On Prime Minister Office (PMO) website, he is also listed as Chairman of Kebun Baru CCMC.

In 2014, he was awarded the Pubic Service Medal (PBM) before being awarded again this year with the Public Service Star (BBM):

Expand Construction

Mr Von Lee’s company, Expand Construction, is currently an A1 contractor registered with BCA. In other words, it can tender for government projects of unlimited amounts.

According to the information on its website, to date, the company has undertaken about $1.0 billion worth of contracts both in the public and private sectors. It is building close to 5,000 units of BTO flats under the Housing and Development Board (HDB).

In addition, it has also undertaken upgrading projects under the Government’s Interim Upgrading Programme (LUP) for HDB flats.

It is admirable indeed that despite his busy schedule running an award-winning construction firm, Mr Von Lee can still find time to help the community by volunteering to be the Chairman of Kebun Baru CCMC doing grassroots work.
