The police has warned members of the public to be wary if they received fake letters purportedly sent by a Police officer in which the recipients were asked to report to a Police station on a specific date to assist in the investigations of an offence.

Singapore Police Force (SPF) announced in Facebook post on Wednesday (5 December) that the letters were signed off by a Police officer from a Police Division, however, the name of the Police officer was found to be fictitious.

The police stressed that these letters were not issued by the Police.

It noted that the reports of these fake letters have been classified as Intentional Harassment under Section 3(2) of the Protection from Harassment Act (POHA) and investigations are ongoing.

If in doubt, members of the public may verify the authenticity of such letters by contacting the respective Police divisions.
