Another major case of food poisoning hit Singapore this month, this time at a learning camp where 131 kindergarten students and teachers suffered gastroenterities after consuming food prepared by the FoodTalks Caterer and Manufacturer on Monday, 26 Nov.

The camp, organised by Learning Horizon which is a subsidiary of Busy Bees, was a suspended immediately after the incident. Thankfully, no one was hopitalised.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Health, National Environment Agency (NEA), and Agri-food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) released a joint statement saying that investigations of the outbreak are underway. They’ve traced the food prepared by FoodTalks to their location at Shimei East Kitchen along Bedok North Street 5.

A joint inspection of the caterer’s premises has been carried out on Tuesday and food handlers were deployed for stool screening and collecting food and environmental samples for testing.

No word yet on the results of the inspections nor on what actions will be taken by the authorities on these errant caterers.

This is the third major incident of mass food poisoning in recent weeks, following the incident last Friday involving 190 people falling ill after consuming food prepared by TungLok Catering for the Singapore Civil Defence Force public exhibition. And earlier this month, Spize eatery had their license suspended after 81 people were diagnosed with gastroenteritis after eating their bento box meals at a Deepavali celebration by Brink’s Singapore. As a result of the incident at Spize, a 38-year old man died while 45 others were hospitalised.
