Graduates of National University Singapore (NUS) are some of the most employable students in the world, according to the latest Global University Employability Ranking. NUS students jumped six spots to make the top 10 of the worlds most employable graduates according to recruiters around the globe.

The ranking, now it in its eight year, is published by the Times Higher Education based on the survey conducted by the French human resources consultancy firm, Emerging on over 7,000 major employers in 22 countries.

NUS is only one of two Asian universities that made the top 10 and the only Singaporean institution to claim the honour. Speaking to Today Online, NUS President says, “We are delighted that our graduates have been ranked top 10 globally by employers around the world. NUS strives to ensure that our graduates are well-prepared for the digital economy, with deep expertise in and across disciplines, core life skills as well as a growth mindset that will position them well for a world of disruption and change.”

The other Asian university to make the top 10 is Japan’s University of Tokyo ranked 9th. Singapore’s only other university to make the cut was the Nanyang Technological University that moved up 18 spots from last year, sitting at 73.

The report noted Asian institutions are making vast improvements in terms of graduate employability, presenting as fierce competition for their western counterparts. Specifically, East Asian institutions were cited as being the top producers of highly employable graduates.

Others that made the top 10 include the usual suspects such as Harvard University, Standard University, and the University of Cambridge.

A different employability ranking however, the QS Employability Ranking 2019, had ranked NUS 33rd in the world, while Tsinghua University in China is the only Asian university in their top 10 (ranked 9th).
