社论:反对党吃了一记重击?

当新加坡最大、最成功的反对党,也开始向民众募捐诉讼费,还可能面对破产危机,你就知道他们正身陷险境。

当然也不奇怪,还有国人“马照跑,舞照跳”,认为反对党的问题是他们的家事,感到事不关己。

但这里有五大问题值得你我深思。

问题一:这像是在纠正反对党吗?

李显龙在2006年时曾说“现在面对刘程强、詹时中和谢镜丰,应付他们还有余力。但假设国会中有10、15或20各反对党议员,我就没有足够时间放在思考国家政策,而是忙于应付他们、思考如何争取支持者选票、如何处理这个礼拜发生的事,而不是来年的挑战?”

时间来到2011年,工人党赢得阿裕尼集选区,但却埋下市镇会困境伏笔,最终引发现今的诉讼案件。那么,有谁或任何一方,是为了让他们犯错、才去纠正他的?

那么下个问题来了:是工人党放松警戒了吗?

在赢得阿裕尼选区的狂喜中,工人党可能感觉良好,觉得一切都会顺利。

面对行动党的威权,如果有一件你最不该犯的失误,那就是在它面前放松警惕。行动党会紧咬不放,确保你付出代价。

问题三:同样的命运,会发生在行动党市镇会理事身上吗?

行动党市镇会控告自家理事或议员的画面,恐怕难以想象。恐怕多数人都知道,行动党不会愚蠢和鲁莽到自废武功。

那么,这件事看起来不像是行动党和工人党的角力?

至少表面看起来,这是阿裕尼-后港市镇会和巴西立-榜鹅市镇会,针对工人党议员等各造的诉讼。Davinder Singh

但是不要忘了,诉讼案的中心人物—诉方律师达文星,乃是行动党籍大巴窑集选区前议员,也是已故李光耀和总理李显龙的王牌律师,为他们在诉讼案中打败过多名对手,包括邓亮洪、徐顺全、博客鄞义林,以及多家外国媒体如《经济学人》、彭博社和《纽约时报》。

来到第五个问题:那些去当反对党政客的人,脑子到底在想什么?细思极恐

担子重、代价高,站到反对党阵营,如同性命悬于风口浪尖。事实就是,即便立场温和、纪律严明,反对党议员还是陷入了水深火热之中。

新加坡人只有舍弃掉他们的冷漠、行使身为公民的权力,否则终有一天他们会发现没有人会愿意再倾听他们的声音、没有人会愿意站出来为人民的问题争取权益。
