马公民本周五处决 马国部长、律师组织吁暂缓死刑

31岁马来西亚籍印裔青年柏卜(Prabu N Pathmanathan),将在本周五(26日)在樟宜监狱被死刑处决。

柏卜在2014年12月31日,因涉嫌走私毒品被逮捕,并被判以死刑。他的家属直至本月20日,才得知柏卜的死刑星期。

马来西亚律师组织则呼吁马国政府采取外交手段,与我国交涉以暂缓柏卜死刑。

今日稍早前,马国掌管法律事务的首相署部长刘伟强表示,将致函新加坡政府,要求将柏卜的死刑改为终身监禁。

在2014年12月31日,案件另一被告苏塔卡,开着一辆丰田Hilux入境新加坡,遭截停检查。执法人员发现后座椅的螺丝帽有可疑刮痕疑似被拆开过,于是拆开椅子后,从下方暗格搜出10包海洛英。

苏塔卡在供证时指柏卜才是车主。他称,柏卜以1000-1500令吉的报酬,指使他开车运包裹到新加坡,并在升菘超市外与柏卜会合。苏塔卡承认知道所运送到是毒品,不过他误以为是大麻。柏卜在当天中午在兀兰镇公园被捕,从他车内抽屉起出两把螺丝起子。

在审讯中,柏卜曾提出,在录口供是调查官涉嫌向他提出逃避死刑的提议。法官发现搜证“并非确凿”,只能证明其中一把螺丝起子与丰田Hilux内的螺丝钉相吻合。

虽然如此,法官认为柏卜清楚知道他运送的是什么毒品,和苏塔卡企图将毒品运入我国转售给买家。但是,法官认为在滥用毒品法令33B(2)(a)(iii)下,苏塔卡仅限于跑腿角色,而被判终身监禁,但是柏卜则判处死刑。

马部长吁刀下留人

马国首相署部长刘伟强,在今日向当地媒体证实收到柏卜将被处决的消息,当被询及若处决如期进行,他表示“将会令人遗憾,希望新方不会这么做。

刘伟强在今日出席联合国73周年庆活动,在致词时表达废死的意愿,同时呼吁新加坡政府”刀下留人“,留柏卜一命。
