The Gov.sg Facebook page released a video earlier this week called the $3 Hawker Challenge. The title says it all: the video shows a young Singaporean hunting down delicious meals for $3 or under at a hawker stall. In the video, the young woman found noddles with three dishes for $2, rice with three dishes for $3, and yong tau foo soup for $3.

Gov.sg then switched it up and asked the public to share their favourite spots to find hawker food for $3 or less.

Many were quick to offer up their favourite spots:

Netizens obviously appreciate just affordable hawker food is in Singapore, especially when compared to places like Australia where a meal would cost upwards of $8.

However, some did point out that several of these ‘cheap finds’ tend to skimp the portion size.

In the end though, the common thread so far seems to be that everyone is happy with the availability of cheap hawker food in Singapore – so long as stall rental remain low to keep the prices affordable for customers.
