Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is paying a visit to Bali, Indonesia, from Wednesday (10 October) to Thursday (11 October) to attend the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat and ASEAN Leaders’ gathering.

In a press release on Wednesday (10 October), the Prime Minister Office (PMO) shared that Prime Minister Lee will also participate in a moderated dialogue with World Bank Group (WBG) President Jim Yong Kim at the WBG’s Third Annual Human Capital Summit.

The PMO stated that the Leaders’ Retreat will be Prime Minister Lee’s third with Indonesian President Joko Widodo. It follows from the last Leaders’ Retreat held in Singapore on 7 September 2017, which commemorated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Indonesia.

For the upcoming Retreat, Prime Minister Lee and President Joko Widodo will review the progress made in bilateral relations, and discuss ways to deepen cooperation. The Leaders will also exchange views on regional and international developments.

During the Leaders’ Retreat, Prime Minister Lee and President Joko Widodo will witness the signing of a couple of the Agreement between Singapore and Indonesia.

At the ASEAN Leaders’ gathering convened by Indonesia on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group, Prime Minister Lee, in Singapore’s capacity as the 2018 ASEAN Chair, will co-chair with President Joko Widodo discussions on the theme of “Achieving Sustainable Development Goals and Overcoming Development Gap through Regional and Global Collaborative Actions”.

The gathering will involve ASEAN Leaders, as well as the heads of the United Nations, International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank Group.

Prime Minister Lee will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations S Iswaran, Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Grace Fu, Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Masagos Zulkifli, and Minister for Education Ong Ye Kung.

During Prime Minister Lee’s absence, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam will be the Acting Prime Minister.

柔佛州政府同意兴建新马第三大桥

为解决新马关卡堵塞问题,马来西亚柔佛州政府同意接受当局建议,兴建新马第三大桥。 对此,马国内政部长慕尤丁认为,目前跨越新马的第二通道使用量已经饱和,有必要兴建第三大桥缓解关卡问题。 他昨日(25日)出席柔佛州议会的柔佛财政预算案辩论环节中指出,若柔佛政府同意,中央政府将著手进行初步研究。他也表明第三跨境大桥不一定是跨海大桥,亦可以是海底隧道。 据马国媒体报导,柔佛主管公共工程、交通及基础建设的行政议员(州内阁部长)莫哈末索里汉,指柔佛州同意兴建马新第三大桥的建议,并将会在近期内正式致函给中央政府表明州政府同意的立场,惟兴建地点和方式则由中央政府进一步研究。 当询及兴建第三大桥的策略性地点是否会在笨珍时,莫哈末索里汉表示目前并未获得任何建议,但也有接获将笨珍龟咯渡轮码头新增渡轮航班地点的建议。 马来西亚与柔佛州都曾提过兴建第三大桥解决堵塞问题,当时有消息传出,第三大桥可能从巴西古当的丹绒布蒂里衔接士乃-迪沙鲁大道至新加坡乌敏岛,再通往新加坡本岛,大桥桥身约三公里,但始终都没有落实。 今年,马国首相敦马哈迪更公开直指我国对兴建第三大桥的建议不愿配合,对此他“感到不解”。
