The Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) has announced that it will allow dog owners to apply for and renew the licences of their pet dogs for a period of up to three years with effect from 1 March 2018, adding that the revision will make dog licensing easier and more convenient.
Currently, dog owners can only apply for annual licences. Under the revised licensing scheme, new and existing dog owners can choose to apply for or renew their dog’s licence for a period of one, two or three years.
Dog owners who option for a two-year licence can enjoy an average discount of 10 per cent, while those who option for a three-year licence can enjoy an average discount of 15 per cent. In addition, a 10 per cent rebate will be extended to dog owners who make payments via electronic platforms, i.e. GIRO, online or through AXS stations.
AVA noted that there was an online public consultation with dog owners and the majority were supportive of the multi-year licensing scheme as it provides greater convenience.
“The revision to allow the renewal of licences on a multi-year basis will help owners reduce the amount of administrative work required. We encourage dog owners to take up this scheme, and to opt for GIRO payment to avoid instances where there is a lapse when payments are not made,” said Ms Jessica Kwok, Group Director of AVA’s Animal Management Group.
For assistance, feedback or enquiries, AVA told members of the public that it can be contacted via its online feedback form at http://ava.gov.sg/feedback or the 24-hour hotline at 1800-476-1600. The user guide and frequently asked questions (FAQs) for PALS are also available at AVA’s website.
