The Land Transport Authority has announced in a joint statement with transport operator, SMRT that 23 passengers and 2 SMRT staff sustained light to moderate injuries from a train collision this morning at Joo Koon Station, and have been conveyed to Ng Teng Fong Hospital and National University Hospital.

In its Facebook post, it wrote,

“This morning at 8.18am, a train heading in the direction of Tuas Link Station stalled at Joo Koon Station. At 8.19am, a second train stopped behind the first faulty train. At 8.20am, the second train moved forward unexpectedly, and came into contact with the first train.

23 passengers and 2 SMRT staff sustained light to moderate injuries, and have been conveyed to Ng Teng Fong Hospital and National University Hospital. SMRT and LTA are investigating the incident.”

A commuter, Mei Anne posted on her Facebook page saying that she was on the train which collided with the other train. The commuters fell on their back because of the collision and she was hurt in the process.

One of the Twitter users, Rdmm, posted a picture of a train bumped on the train ahead of it. He wrote that the train hit the one in front despite it was moving very slowly and questioned if commuters who are hurt as a result will be compensated for their injuries.
