AVA: Eggs sold at coffee shop in Ang Mo Kio real

Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) has responded to a query posted by a customer regarding suspicious fake eggs sold at a coffee shop in Ang Mo Kio.
On Friday (21 April), Jerome Junior posted a video and a picture on his Facebook account of a bowl of soft boiled eggs he bought at a coffee shop in Ang Mo Kio.
The post went viral with more than 6,700 shares.
On his post, he wrote, “An alert to everyone! Synthetic, man-made eggs from China are here! They have hit Singapore.”
He then noted that this was what he was served at a coffee shop in Block 727 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.
“Please take heed and alert your loved ones,” he wrote, tagging National Environment Agency (NEA) and AVA on his post, together with his video of the eggs.

However, AVA has responded to the post, saying that they are aware of a video allegedly showing fake eggs bought from a coffee shop in Ang Mo Kio.
AVA then stated that its investigations have shown that the eggs sold at the coffee shop are real and were imported from an accredited farm in Malaysia.
“There are no imports of eggs from China, as China is not an approved source. Both imported and locally produced eggs are also regularly sampled for food safety and compliance with AVA’s standards and requirements,” it wrote.
