The Singapore Lions will take on the world number two ranked team, Argentina, in a historic match at the National Stadium on Tuesday, 13th June 2017.

The fixture has been scheduled to mark the Football Association of Singapore’s (FAS) 125-year anniversary, and will see Argentina field a full strength team, set to include their talismanic forward Lionel Messi and star players such as Sergio Agüero, Gonzalo Higuaín and Ángel Di María, in what is being billed the ‘match of the year’.
Organised by FAS and international sport and entertainment promoter UNICESS, the match is part of four-nation tour that will see Argentina play Brazil in Melbourne, Australia on Friday 9th June 2017, with the Socceroos then taking on Brazil in Melbourne on 13 June 2017, the same night as the Singapore fixture.
Speaking about the national team’s chances against such highly rated opposition, National Coach, V. Sundram Moorthy said:

“Argentina are one of the top international teams and have in their squad many world-class players such as Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, Paris Saint-Germain winger Ángel Di María and Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero. FAS has worked very hard to finalise the match, which will benefit our players and coaches in terms of invaluable exposure as well as enhance the level of sporting entertainment for fans in Singapore. I am looking forward to leading my country out against such the two-time FIFA World Cup champions, and we hope that Singaporeans will come out in force to cheer us on. A packed stadium on 13 June will make a huge difference and give our players the boost they need against a team with so many talented world-class players.”
Speaking about the historic occasion, Manu Sawhney, CEO of the Singapore Sports Hub, said:

Tickets to the Singapore-Argentina match will be available for purchase through www.sportshubtix.sg  on Thursday 20 April from 9am, and through all other channels from 10am. Tickets are priced from S$40 to S$188 each, with children’s and senior citizen’s tickets available at $25 each (Please refer to full ticketing information below).

在本次的国会会议,国会副议长暨荷兰-武吉知马集选区议员迪舒沙,询问内政部长本地目前有多少无国籍人士,以及在协助申请公民或永久居民方面,政府是否能进一步协助这批群体。 对此,内政暨律政部长尚穆根透过书面答复坦言,截至去年11月30日,本地共有1109位无国籍人士。其中,有76%具有永久居民身份,在住房、教育和医疗方面,享有与其他永久居民同等福利。 若无国籍人士申请永久居民或公民权,移民与关卡局都会依据一系列事项,审核每份申请。 这些事项就包括:无国籍人士在本地居留的时间、家庭背景、经济贡献、学历、年龄,与本地人的家庭关系等等。 同时,当局也会考量他们成为无国籍人士的原因。例如,他们选择放弃原国籍身份。或是非出于自愿失去公民权。 有者因犯罪而被原生国家剥夺国籍。 有者尽管新加坡出生,但碍于父母都不是新加坡公民,父母也未能为孩子申请祖国的公民权,而为此成为无国籍人士身份。

杨莉明称上周已加强措施 惟客工组织曾警告客工宿舍存风险

由于本地涌现客工宿舍新感染群,特别是S11榜鹅宿舍和卓源东路Westlite宿舍感染群,分别有63名和28名客工确诊,为此跨政府部门工作小组把上述两个宿舍列为隔离区。 S11榜鹅宿舍有1万3000客工,卓源东路 Westlite宿舍也有6千800客工。当局表示这些客工不能开工,现场将部署医疗支援,并提供食物和生活必需品。 然而,人力部长杨莉明却在脸书贴文表示,从上周起客工宿舍就已落实更严谨措施,例如和宿舍管理者关闭非必要共用设备、避免不同楼层间参杂交流、加强宿舍间安全距离、错开用餐和休闲时间等。 随着有两个宿舍被宣布为隔离区,杨莉明指所有其他宿舍也会提升安全疏离措施。 “待在住宿如和家人一起   仍有传播风险” 她也指出,政府将安排小部分必要领域工作的客工搬出宿舍,到更合适的住宿。杨莉明也解释,在宿舍里客工就像和家属一样经常互动,仍有传播风险,当局将采取进一步预防措施,减少互动。同时,减少宿舍中的人数。 若有客工不适,则将安排到独立的病房。 客工亦重:工友12至20人挤一间房 不过,早在上月23日,本地客工组织“客工亦重(TWC2)”主席德比弗地,就已在《海峡时报》论坛警告,一些工友住在一间容纳12至20人的房间,且搭罗厘去上班也是肩并肩搭车,都不符合社交安全距离的措施。 而在3月31日,开始出现客工宿舍感染群,该组织于本月3日再次呼吁,政府应提早宣布措施,若宿舍出现感染群,将如何迁徙安排这些客工,让本地居民得到保障。
