The police informed today (2 Mar) that a woman who is believed to be involved in a series of purchase scams,  was arrested along St Michael’s Road.
After several reports made by victims of the scam, officers from Tanglin Division managed to establish the identity of the woman through extensive investigations and ground inquiries. She was arrested by the officers along St. Michael’s Road on 28 February.
The Police have received several reports from victims in the last two months, who were purportedly cheated by a woman who claimed to be a freelance travel agent and was able to sell them air tickets at discounted prices. The woman did not deliver the air tickets after the payments were made by the victims.
The police said investigations against the suspect is ongoing. If found guilty the woman may be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 10 years, and will also be liable to fine.
The Police also advised members of the public to only purchase air tickets from a licensed travel agent.
