An accident happened on Wednesday (22 Feb) around 9pm at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 towards Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, where a motorcyclist died after crashing into a car door that suddenly opened on the road, the police said.

Shin Min Daily reported the car had stopped at a traffic light and, for unknown reasons, a front passenger of the car allegedly opened the door two times without warning.

The motorcyclist (27) crashed to the car door and was in a coma when he was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was later certified dead at the hospital.
The motorcyclist happened to be passing by and the impact caused him to be thrown into the air and he landed about 10m away, Shin Min said.

Passers-by stopped to help, some helped to direct traffic and a doctor had tried to resuscitate the rider.
Police said the passenger, a 34-year-old man, was arrested for causing death by a negligent act, police investigations are ongoing.
