The Singapore Heart Foundation (SHF) has filed a police report against a group of ‘volunteers’ who claimed that they were raising donations at Bugis Junction on its behalf on Sunday (19 Feb).
The volunteers had SHF’s flag day stickers and claim to represent the organisation to help raise funds for low income students and ex-convicts.
“We would like to inform the public that SHF has not commissioned any volunteers to carry out fund raising activities at the said date/venue,” SHF wrote in a notice on its Facebook on 20 Feb.
“ A police report has since been made on the matter,” it said.

The notice read, “Representatives from SHF are required to carry an ID badge and a copy of the Collectors Certificate of Authority (CCA) issued by the National Council of Social Service (NCSS).”
“This ID will display the name of each individual fundraiser, and members of the public are encouraged to contact SHF directly and provide us with the full name or ID badge number of the representative, if they wish to verify the individual,” it said.
“We want to reassure the public that SHF does not condone such activities, and all donations to the foundation can only be done via our Direct Debit Donor Program (DDDP).”
“The DDDP enables members of the public who are interested in supporting SHF’s work of providing highly subsidised cardiac rehabilitation program and promoting heart health to the public, to make donations on a one-time, monthly or yearly basis,” the notice closed.
A netizen, Desmond Chan, posted a picture on his comment on the matter, saying, “They carry this to show when on demand.”

More information on the DDDP are on the SHF website.
