Fire at Block 138 Bedok Reservoir Road, man stood on ledge of bedroom

A man was standing on a ledge outside a bedroom of a 4th floor unit of Block 138 Bedok Reservoir Road as a fire broke down on Monday (20 February).
Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that it was alerted at about 5pm this evening to the fire.
It then responded with one Fire Engine, two Red Rhinos, two Fire Bikes, two Support Vehicles and two Ambulances.
SCDF said that when its firefighters arrived, they saw a man standing on the ledge outside a bedroom on the 4th storey as black smoke billowed out from the window. Firefighters quickly pitched a ladder and rescued him from the ledge.
SCDF stated that the man was conveyed to Changi General Hospital for burn injuries, adding that 6 occupants from neighbouring units were also evacuated to safety by SCDF.
“Firefighters had to force their way into the locked unit and extinguish the blaze with two water jets,” it said.
The cause of the fire which gutted the entire unit is currently under investigation.
