Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that a fire broke out from a bedroom and thick black smoke was seen billowing out from a 13th floor unit of Blk 248 Compassvale Road.

SCDF said that it was alerted at around 4.10 pm and dispatched two Fire Engines, a Red Rhino, a Fire Bike, an Ambulance and a support vehicle to location.
Arriving on scene, SCDF stated that its firefighters with breathing apparatus sets, went into the unit and extinguished the fire, which involved the contents of a bedroom, with one water jet.

A man and an elderly woman who had self evacuated from the unit prior to SCDF’s arrival were conveyed to Changi General Hospital for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
