Commuters should prepare for a longer time to commute from Jurong East station to Joo Koon station on the East-West Line on Tuesday evening (7 Feb).
This is caused by ‘urgent works’ to replace a track point, which guides the direction of train travel, near Joo Koon Station, which began on Monday night, said SMRT in a post on Facebook.

“As the replacement works could not be fully completed last night, we have locked the point in one direction and, as such, only one platform at Joo Koon Station is operational today. As a result, commuters travelling from Jurong East to Joo Koon experienced longer journeys this morning,” the post said.
Travel time for many commuters this morning has been longer, with delays of more than 25 minutes.
SMRT said its engineers would complete the replacement works ‘and get the track point up and running’ after the end of train service tonight.
It also added that ‘it would make necessary train service arrangements’ to minimise the congestion from Jurong East to Joo Koon in the evening, and would deploy additional staff to assist commuters at stations.
