The remaining suspect in connection with the case of Murder which occurred at the open field along Kallang Road in May 2010 has been arrested, the police said on its media release on 18 Jan.
Earlier on 30 May 2010, the police was alerted to a body found lying motionless at the open field along Kallang Road. The deceased was a 41-year-old male of Indian national working in Singapore on a permit; he was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
Following an intensive operation involving more than 100 officers from the various police units, three suspects, were swiftly arrested and charged in Court.
With the assistance of the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), the fourth suspect was arrested in Malaysia pursuant to a warrant of arrest issued by the State Courts, and handed over to the Singapore Police Force (SPF) on 18 January 2017.
The suspect, a 25-year-old man, will be charged in Court on 20 January 2017 at 9 am for the offense of Murder with Common Intention under Section 302(1) read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries the death penalty.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigations & Intelligence) concurrent Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, Tan Chye Hee, said, “The excellent cooperation between SPF and RMP has always been instrumental in bringing criminals who committed cross-border crimes to justice.”
“I would like to express my appreciation to the RMP for pressing on with their efforts to locate the murder suspect for this vicious crime which took place in 2010.”
“With the invaluable assistance from our foreign law enforcement partners, SPF will ensure that criminals who remain on the run will be brought back to face the full brunt of the law,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
With the help of RMP last month SPF also arrested a Malaysian male in Malaysia, suspected in the murder of a woman at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.
