Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has announced that an Indonesian-registered vessel was directed for further checks by officers upon arrival at the Singapore Cruise Centre on Saturday (7 January) at about 2.45am.
ICA said that during the course of checks, its officers found duty-unpaid cigarettes concealed in hidden compartments of the vessel.
All three crew members (male Indonesians aged 48, 46 and 33), the exhibits and the vessel were handed over to the Singapore Customs for further investigations.
According to ICA, a total of 804 cartons and 43 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes were seized. The potential duty and Goods and Services Tax of the duty-unpaid cigarettes evaded amounted to about $75,460 and $7,100 respectively.
