Students who took the GCE O-level examinations last year will receive their results on 11 Jan 2017, MOE stated in its press release on 4 Jan.
Students can pick up their results from their schools at 2pm that day, while private candidates will be notified of their individual results by post, MOE informed.
The result slips will be mailed on 11 January 2017 to the address provided by the candidates during the registration period. Private candidates who are eligible for SingPass can also use their SingPass account to obtain their results online via the internet Examination Results Release System (iERRS) on Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board’s website at 2.00 pm on 11 January 2017.
MOE also informed that students who wish may apply for Junior Colleges, Millennia Institute, polytechnics, or the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) through the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) using their GCE O-Level examination results.
JAE registration will open from 3.00 pm on Wednesday, 11 January 2017 to 4.00 pm on Monday, 16 January 2017.
Eligible applicants who sat for the 2016 GCE O-Level examination will receive Form A on the day of the release of examination results. Applicants are strongly encouraged to use the course application worksheet (provided in the Form A or the JAE information booklet) before submitting the online application via the JAE Internet System (JAE-IS) at MOE admission website, or contact the MOE Customer Service Centre at 6872-2220 during operating hours, Mondays to Fridays from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm, and Saturdays from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm.
Direct School Admission – Junior Colleges
MOE further informed, students who had accepted offers through the 2016 Direct School Admission – Junior Colleges (DSA-JC) Exercise are deemed to be admitted to their chosen JC if they have met the eligibility criteria for admission to JC based on their GCE O-Level examination results. Students admitted to a JC through DSA-JC will not be eligible to participate in the JAE.
Students who do not meet the JC admission criteria may take part in JAE to apply for courses which they are eligible for. More details on DSA-JC can be found at MOE DSA-JC website.
Polytechnic
Students who had accepted conditional offers to a polytechnic course through the Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) in 2016 and have their offers confirmed based on their GCE O-Level examination results will not be eligible to participate in JAE.
Their EAE offers are confirmed if they meet the following criteria:
- A net ELR2B2 score of 26 points or better for the GCE O-Level examinations; and
- Minimum Entry Requirements for the respective polytechnic course.
Students who do not meet the above criteria may take part in JAE. More details on can be found at EAE website.
Progression Pathways for Secondary Four Normal (Academic) Students
The Polytechnic Foundation Program (PFP)
Secondary 4 Normal (Academic) students who attempted the Normal (Academic) Examination in 2016 and obtained an ELMAB3 aggregate not exceeding 11 points and met subject-specific requirements will be eligible to apply for the Polytechnic Foundation Program (PFP).
The PFP is an alternative to the Secondary 5 Normal (Academic) year. It is a one-year foundation program at the polytechnics that offers a practice-oriented curriculum taught by polytechnic lecturers.
On Wednesday, 11 January 2017, students eligible for the PFP will receive a copy of Form P from their respective secondary schools, inviting them to apply for the PFP. Each copy of Form P contains a unique password. Students should use the respective passwords to submit their applications online via the PFP website.
MOE press release wrote, application for the PFP will open from 2.00 pm on Wednesday, 11 January 2017 to 4.00 pm on Monday, 16 January 2017.
The PFP posting results will be released at 2.00 pm on Thursday, 19 January 2017 through the PFP website. Students will be required to indicate whether they wish to accept, reject, or appeal for a change of course by 4.00 pm on Sunday, 22 January 2017. More details on the PFP.
Polytechnic Program (DPP)
The final application phase for the Direct-Entry-Scheme to Polytechnic Program (DPP) will open at 2.30 pm on Wednesday, 11 January 2017 and close at the end of Monday, 16 January 2017.
Secondary 4 Normal (Academic) students who are newly eligible after taking into account their O-Level examination results should submit their DPP applications online via the DPP application portal.
The DPP posting results for applications made under the final application phase will be released from 9.00 am on Thursday, 19 January 2017 through the DPP application portal.
Students will be required to indicate whether they wish to accept or reject the DPP offer by the end of Sunday, 22 January 2017. More details on the DPP.
Successful PFP and/or DPP applicants
Students who have been offered a place in the DPP under the final application phase should report to ITE on Monday, 23 January 2017, upon acceptance of their DPP course offer.
The last day of school for Secondary 5 students who have accepted a place in the PFP will be on Friday, 27 January 2017. Students will be informed by the respective polytechnics on the dates of enrollment for the PFP.
Students who accepted a place in the earlier December application phase of the DPP but have now decided to take up a PFP offer will need to apply to ITE to withdraw from the DPP course in order to take up the PFP offer, MOE press release stated.
