The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has announced the appointing of Tan Kiat How to be the Chief Executive Officer starting from 1 January 2017.

Mr Tan, 39, currently the deputy secretary (cyber and technology) at Ministry of Communication and Information, will succeed the current IMDA CEO, Gabriel Lim, 40, who will continue to serve as Second Permanent Secretary (Communications and Information).

Prior to his appointment as the Deputy Secretary (Cyber and Technology) at MCI, Mr Tan had served at the former Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), the Ministry of Finance and the Pioneer Generation Office (PGO).

In his time at the then-IDA, Mr Tan was said to have helped to develop the Intelligent Nation 2015 plan and implement the Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network.

Mr Tan was also said to have spearheaded community engagement efforts to Pioneer Generation members and their caregivers at PGO and involved in refining the national cybersecurity strategy with the Cyber Security Agency (CSA) at MCI.

According to MCI, Mr Tan will build on ongoing efforts to strengthen the IMDA and partner industry stakeholders to grow the infocomm media sector.
