A man suspected involved in the supply of large quantities of heroin to drug traffickers and 14 of his associates were arrested in Malaysia, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) stated on Sunday (4 Dec).

Channel NewsAsia wrote that in a co-operation operation between CNB and Malaysia’s Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID), a Johor-based Malaysian male (30) was arrested last Firday (2 Dec), along with 14 of his associates.

CNB conducted two operations on Thursday and Friday, in concurrence with the NCID measure, where about 27 kg of heroin and RM290,000 (S$92,487) in cash were seized.

The CNB said that during the investigation prior to the arrests, CNB shared intelligence with the NCID, who allowed them to conduct investigations into the drug activities of the drug supplier.

“Through CNB’s investigations, it was found that the 30-year old Malaysian drug supplier was believed to be involved in the supplying of heroin to local drug traffickers,” the CNB informed.

CNB director Ng Ser Song said he was grateful to NCID for helping to arrest ‘a very elusive drug supplier who was involved in the supplying of sizeable amount of drugs to Singapore’.

“The fight against drugs is getting more complex by the day. However, with NCID’s close and firm support, we are confident of continuing the good fight against the drug scourge, which continues to inflict untold harm upon society,” Mr Ng said.
