62-yr-old e-bike rider killed in collision with tipper truck
An elderly e-bike rider passed away after he collided with a tipper truck at Cecil Street towards Collyer Quay on Friday (18 November) morning.
The 62-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Police said that a 62-year-old tipper truck driver was arrested for causing death by negligent act. Investigations are ongoing.
Road.sg posted a video of the scene after the accident on its Facebook page.
Just last month, another fatal accident occurred near the junction of Pandan Crescent along West Coast Highway when three e-bike users were knocked down by a truck. Two of them passed away.
Road.sg also warned road users about these blind spots of heavy vehicles.
“Many have the misconception that if they can see the truck, then the driver can see them. This is entirely untrue and somebody is going to get hurt,” it wrote.
