Former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad,  encouraged Malaysians to participate in the upcoming Bersih 5 rally against PM Najib Razak which will be held on Saturday (19 November)

Wearing a Bersih 5 rally T-shirt, Dr Mahathir said, “Ladies and gentlemen, Malaysia is in a critical condition. Abdul Razak’s administration has caused the country to incur billions of ringgit in debt, which cannot be paid by the government and state.”

“Therefore, we need to show our discontent towards the government by joining in Bersih demonstrations which will be held in Malaka and a couple of other places,” he added.

He said that “this rally aims to find a way to change the current government so that Malaysia do not have to be governed by someone who has lost the country’s money.”

“I hope that all of Malaysian will take part in this event,” he ended.

Dr Mahathir had also attended the previous Bersih 4 in August last year.

The Bersih 5 rally (also known by its tagline: Combine our energy – New Malaysia) is a planned democratic protest in Malaysia. It is supported by the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih). A Bersih convoy was also launched and intends to target all parts of Malaysia to raise awareness of the current democratic problems nationwide.
