A warehouse in Sungei Kadut was engulfed in flames this morning (2 Nov) around 5:35am.

SCDF was alerted and was already fighting the fire since before 6am this morning.

SCDF firefighters have surrounded the 3-storey warehouse with seven jets, and have confined the fire to the building which measures 100m by 50m.

They sent four fire engines, two Red Rhinos, oneambulance,seven support vehicles and 50 firefighters have been deployed.

The fire woke up the nearby residents in Choa Chu Kang. with loud explosions while it was raining heavily, flames and smoke were seen billowing from the fire at around 6am.

SCDF posted the developments of the fire-fighting on its Facebook.

By around 7am the fire has been overcome but glows of fire still could be seen.

At 7:49am, SCDF managed to contain the fire and firefighters then doused small pockets of fire within the building.

The SCDF said upon the first arrival, SCDF crew had rescued a total of seven persons who were trapped in the office-block adjoining the warehouse. Three persons were rescued from the rooftop and four others from the third-floor balcony.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
