Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT) announced In its Twitter account this morning, that its East-West Line was disrupted at around 7 am due to a train fault. Additional travelling time was said to be required from Queenstown to Jurong East towards Joo Koon.

SMRT said that free regular bus services are available between Queenstown and Jurong East.

It also said that commuters could expect 15 minutes additional travelling time.

At 7.44, SMRT said that the fault had cleared and the trains were progressively returning to normal speed. However, 10 minutes additional travelling time was still needed.

It said that the free regular bus services were still available at that moment.

SMRT tweeted at 8.23 am that the train service had resumed. However, free regular bus services was still available.

At around 9.30 am, SMRT said that the free regular bus services had ceased.

Commuters voiced their complaints over the disruption of service. A commuter, Chace Foo, wrote that the Jurong East Station was getting more crowded as more people were waiting to board and he missed three trains as he was unable to get on.

Some commuters complained that Queenstown and Jurong East were not the only stations that were affected. Rosyusmarlea wrote that trains from Tampines to Bedok also took 15 minutes.

Another commuter, hm, wrote that the trains stopped 10 minutes at every station between Queenstown and Joo Koon.

Another commuter complained that SMRT officers were touching and pushing passengers while directing them out of the MRT.
