The Red Arrows, the dynamic aerobatic team of the Royal Air Force (RAF) will be visiting the Middle East and Asia, including countries like China, India, Malaysia and Singapore.
Flying in from Malaysia, the Red Arrows will arrive in Singapore on Thursday (13 October) and perform a 30-minute flypast from around 12.00 pm in their stellar Diamond 9 Formation.
The Red Arrows’ flypast is planned to be conducted off Marina Bay Sands, including streaming white smoke. After the flypast, the Red Arrows’ Hawk jets will be stationed at the Singapore Air Force’s Paya Lebar Airbase.
In July 2016, announcing the visit, the UK Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said, “Our RAF Red Arrows and Typhoons represent the best of British. The Red Arrows will fly the flag for Britain in key export markets.”
And High Commissioner Scott Wightman said, “We are excited by the visit of the Red Arrows and their participation in a number of activities in Singapore that will deepen the strong ties between Singapore and the UK. Their visit, alongside that of eight RAF Typhoon fighter aircraft and two C130 transporters to the Bersama Lima exercise, underscores our commitment to the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) and the UK’s capability to exercise with our allies around the world.”
“The participation of the Red Arrows at Rolls-Royce’s STEM event and their interaction with students will help drive home the message to young Singaporeans that knowledge and understanding in these crucial subjects have real life applications. We hope that students will feel inspired to explore their interest in digital, innovation, aerospace technology and the creative sciences; areas in which the UK is a world leader. We look forward to a wonderful and exciting visit and we hope that as many Singaporeans as possible go out to see the Red Arrows’ flypast over this beautiful city,” Wightman said.
Royal Air Force’s Aerobatic Team or Red Arrows’ visit to Singapore that was scheduled for Thursday, 13 October 2016 is now being postponed to Saturday, 15 October 2016. The rescheduling was caused by an unexpected weather system in the South Asian region.
Please note that the Red Arrows’ Flypast over the vicinity of Marina Bay, Gardens by the Bay and Sentosa will now take place from around 12.30pm to about 1.00pm on Saturday, 15 October 2016.
