The Singapore Police Force (SPF) announced that they had arrested a 36-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman for their suspected involvement in separate cases of theft from person.

On 4 September, the Police were alerted that there were 2 cases of theft from person reported at Lucky Plaza. Officers from Tanglin Division immediately followed up on the reports, and soon they managed to establish the identity of the 36-year-old male suspect and arrested him at Lucky Plaza. Officers seized wallets and EZ-link cards were seized from the suspect.

Another report was made on the same day (4 September). The Police received two reports from victims whose wallets were stolen from them while they were at Lucky Plaza. Officers from Tanglin Division conducted swift investigations and established the identity of the 37-year-old from the female suspect who was subsequently arrested at the Woodlands Checkpoint on the same day.

The statement said that both suspects are believed to be involved in several other cases of theft from person.

The two suspects will be charged in the Court on 6 September 2016 with Theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they face an imprisonment term which may extend to 3 years or with fine, or with both.

Members of the public are advised to be alert of their surroundings and to safeguard their personal belongings especially at crowded places.
