Malaysia – A business man was shot in broad day light on 27 July at the Jalan Taman Ibu Kota/Jalan Genting Klang junction, Kuala Lumpur at about 3.30 pm.
The victim, who was in his 40’s, was driving along the roads near a mall and stopped at the traffic light when two motorcycles pulled over near the vehicle. “They came when the victim’s car was at the traffic light. One shooter went to the left and another to the right before both opened fire,” said City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Mohd Isa at a press conference at the Setapak police station on 28 July. The shooter on the driver’s side shot three or four times, while his accomplice on the other side of the car shot more than a dozen.
A friend of him said that two weeks ago, he just bought a new car, a black Honda Accord in change for his previous Toyota Camry, because he was suspected that someone had been following him.
CID Rusdi stated that in the preliminary investigation, it was found out that the man was a money-lender. The theories range between business-related issue or revenge. The police also stated that the homicide may be gang related, since the victim had a previous arrest record in 2014 and that investigations will explore every avenue.
The shots rang more than 10 times and left the victim’s car riddled with bullet holes. “Four of the bullets struck him in the right arm. Ten bullets pierced his body. He was also shot in the head and thigh,” CID Rusdi said.
He said that the family members have confirmed the victim’s identity but as for now the police will withhold the any further information other than the name of the victim, V Kandasamy. The victim, who was said to own a money changer business, had three children.
Malaysian police chief Khalid Abu Bakar told reporters yesterday that police are hunting for the gunmen, The Star newspaper reported, “They cannot run. We will use all our resources to ensure they are behind bars.”
The incident was caught in one of the CCTV of the nearby building. The video leaked and people could watch the entire horrifying scene on YouTube.
