A new Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) for Seletar Airport is slated to be completed by the end of 2018, said the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Changi Airport Group (CAG) in an announcement on 19 May.
The new PTB will be built at the eastern end of the airport. According to a joint press release by the CAAS and CAG, construction is planned to begin in October this year. On 18 May, the tender for construction was called.
When the new PTB opens, operations at the current PTB located on the western side of Seletar Airport will cease.
Upon opening in end-2018, the PTB will provide travellers with improved facilities and amenities, enabling Seletar Airport to accommodate growth of air traffic. As part of the larger Seletar Aerospace Park (SAP), the PTB also aims to support increasing general aviation activities in the area.
Turboprop aircraft operations currently held at Changi Airport will also be shifted to Seletar Airport upon the PTB’s opening as this move will help to free up capacity for jet aircraft operations at Changi Airport.
The new Passenger Terminal Building will enhance the capacity of the airport. It will strengthen Singapore Aviation. The new investment will also enable more opportunities to thrive in the Seletar Aerospace Park, reinforcing Singapore’s position as a vibrant aviation hub,” said Director-General of CAAS Mr Kevin Shum.
