A video submitted to local citizen journalism website, STOMP shows a pedestrian being knocked down by a Special Operations Command (SOC) vehicle from the police force at Clemenceau Avenue towards Havelock Road. The SOC vehicle is also commonly known as a riot truck or "red truck".
The accident is said to have taken place around 10pm on Christmas Eve.
The special operations command vehicle was turning left when the truck hit the pedestrian who was crossing the road, causing the man to fall to the ground. The pedestrian did not seem to have gotten up for the whole duration of the video.
The person who submitted the video to STOMP, wrote, "The driver knocked down the pedestrian who was crossing the road when the green man was flashing."
From the video, personnel from the SOC vehicle can be seen alighting from their vehicle to check and attend to the pedestrian.
In response to media queries, a police spokesperson said: "The police confirm that an accident involving a Police Special Operations Command (SOC) vehicle and a pedestrian had occurred at the junction of Clemenceau Avenue and Havelock Road on Dec 25 at about 10.15pm...The driver of the vehicle stopped immediately to render assistance."
The spokesperson added that the 41-year-old male pedestrian was conveyed conscious to the Singapore General Hospital and is currently in stable condition. Investigations by the traffic police are ongoing.
