Those in need of help can now reach the Sexual Assault Care Centre via WhatsApp, as part of the specialist centre's range of services for people who have faced sexual assault.
“WhatsApp is convenient, discreet and widely used, which is reassuring for those want to seek help for sexual assault without the fear of others around them finding out,” said Jolene Tan, Programmes and Communications Senior Manager at AWARE. “It also allows clients to get information and clarifications on-the-go.”
SACC can be reached from 10am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, at 9781 4101. There is also a helpline (6779 0282) that operates from 10am to midnight, Monday to Friday, and an email service at [email protected] People can also go to the drop-in centre to meet the on-site social worker from 10am to 7pm, Monday to Friday.
SACC is the first and only specialist service for people who face sexual assault. It provides legal advice and counselling, as well as a Befriender service where trained individuals accompanies clients to places like the police station, court or hospital.
