Ministry of Education (MOE) in its latest update has confirmed that bodies of 7 more Singaporeans have been identified as part of the death toll due to the earthquake on 5 June.

The 5 students are;  Ameer Ryyan bin Mohd Adeed Sanjay, Emilie Giovanna Ramu, Matahom Karyl Mitzi Higuit, Rachel Ho Yann Shiuan, Sonia Jhala and one teacher, Loo Jian Liang Terrence Sebastian.

The body of a Singaporean adventure guide, Muhammad Daanish bin Amran, who accompanied the students, has also been also been identified.

On Friday evening, the body of 12-year-old Singapore student Wee Ying Peony was found and taken down to the base camp at Sabah Parks. Her body will be flown back to Singapore under the accompaniment of her parents on Sunday.

Another two students and one teacher, who remained in Kota Kinabalu for more medical attention, have all returned back to Singapore.

Operations are continuing to locate the remaining one student Navdeep Singh Jaryal S/O Raj Kumar, and teacher Mohammad Ghazi Bin Mohamed.

The statement is as follow,

We are deeply saddened to inform that the bodies recovered by the Malaysian authorities have been identified by their next-of-kin as five students and one teacher from Tanjong Katong Primary School. They are:

  • Ameer Ryyan bin Mohd Adeed Sanjay
  • Emilie Giovanna Ramu
  • Loo Jian Liang Terrence Sebastian (Teacher)
  • Matahom Karyl Mitzi Higuit
  • Rachel Ho Yann Shiuan
  • Sonia Jhala

MOE and other government officials are in Kota Kinabalu, and are providing assistance and support to the families during this difficult period.

Arrangements are being made for the family members and the bodies of the deceased to be flown back to Singapore as soon as possible.

MOE had said earlier that the ministry and other government officials will continue to be in Kota Kinabalu, to provide assistance and support to the families during this difficult period.

The 2015 Sabah earthquake struck Ranau, Sabah, Malaysia with a moment magnitude of 6.0 on 5 June 2015, and lasted for 30 seconds. The earthquake has been considered as the strongest to affect Malaysia since 1976.

疑发生争执 女乘客丢手提包酿五车连环撞

一名女子疑在车上和家人发生争执,两度打开车门,甚至自车内丢下手提包,导致车子停下,后来的车子紧急刹车,酿成连环撞。丢手提包的女子也被当场逮捕,案件尚在调查中。 有关事件于周日(12日)下午4时许,在亚逸拉惹快速公路,朝市区方向、过了惹兰红山的路段发生。 根据网上流传的视频中,只见一辆香槟色的轿车在路上行驶时,两度被人打开。后方的车子见到前方车子的不对劲,就放慢速度了。 这辆轿车的左边后座车门,在亚逸拉惹路靠近新加坡国立大学的路段,就已经被打开,且没有关上。 后方车子司机见状,就怀疑车上有状况,因此报警。岂知,在车子经过惹兰红山的路段时,左后方的车门再度打开,且还有一个红色手提包被丢下车子。 后方车子当时虽然紧急刹车,但是仍然撞上,酿成五车连环撞的闹剧。 警依精神健康法逮捕女子 后方车主表示,在车祸发生后,一名女子从肇祸车子后座下来,并且对着开车的女司机大骂,反观女司机一直都没有回应,也没有下车。 警察抵达现场调查时,女司机才下车回答问题,据悉,女司机和后座女子似乎是母女关系。 女子当时表现激动,甚至无视警察身份而对他们大声怒骂,最终被警察铐上手铐带回警局。 警方今天指出,被逮捕的21岁女子,是在精神健康法令下被逮捕,庆幸的是,当时的连环撞车祸并没有导致任何伤人事件。 警方目前正在针对此案展开调查。…
