In view of the pending General Elections, the National Solidarity Party (NSP) has appointed Ms Hazel Poa as acting secretary-general.
This follows the departure of former secretary-general Mr Tan Lam Siong, who left the position to pursue his interests in social and community work, while remaining as a congress member.
Ms Poa had stepped down as NSP’s secretary-general in 2013 due to health issues but stayed on in its central executive committee.
She will serve as acting secretary-general until a party congress is called to elect one.
NSP’s president Sebastian Teo made the following announcement on behalf of the NSP’s 16th Central Executive Committee on the party’s Facebook page:
In view of the need to focus on preparations for the next GE, the CEC felt this would not be an appropriate time to call for a Party Congress to elect a new Secretary-General (SG). Hence, the CEC has decided to appoint Hazel Poa Koon Koon as acting Secretary-General, to carry out the duties of the SG until such time a Party Congress is called by the CEC.
