The National University of Singapore (NUS) has maintained its second placing while the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) edged up a spot to tenth place in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) regional rankings released today, 11 June.
The University of Tokyo retained its top position.
The regional rankings are are based on the same performance indicators and methodology as the established THE World University Rankings. The listed indices for the rankings were teaching, international outlook, industry income, research and citations.
However, in THE’s 100 Under 50 rankings – a ranking of the top 100 universities under 50 years old that attempts to showcase the “rising stars” in education – NTU came in fifth.
Also, in THE’s World University Rankings 2014-2015, NUS came in 25th, and NTU 61st.
The Singapore Management University, Singapore Institute of Technology, and Singapore University of Technology and Design do not appear on the rankings.
Media also reported on another ranking of Asian universities by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) released yesterday, 10 June, NUS came in top place and NTU was fourth.
