A lot has been said about how the different races of Singapore come together as one but as far as I can remember, there is no national day song that has lines in all 4 official language to reflect that in a very powerful symbolic way.

Recent NDP songs have been pretty forgettable with melody and lyrics that don’t quite stick like the good old songs of old. This song is an attempt to create a more inclusive song that everyone can sing along to regardless of musical ability.

Inclusiveness is a very important theme to keep Singapore together and I hope the above song can inspire future songs to be crafted that are for the people, rather than to show how clever the songs are.

Hopefully the video can stir discussion on the essence that a national song should try to encapsulate. I’ll be most glad to have this song open to criticism as long as it contributes to the creation of a better song!
