Images of the body of a cat cut in half has been circulating online, prompting condemnation from animal welfare groups and a call for more information to assist with investigation.
The body of the cat in Marine Cresent was posted online by a Facebook user and has garnered more than 900 shares.
The Singapore Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has indicated to media that it is in possession of the body and is currently conducting a post-mortem on it.
The Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES) is also appealing for more information from members of the public on the person who committed the act.
ACRES’s Louis Ng was reported as saying, “It is alarming that someone has done this heinous act of cruelty and this person must be brought to justice… If this person is caught, he or she should be prosecuted to the fullest extent to send out a strong deterrent message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in our society.”
According to ACRES, the authorities are investigating the incident.
