The Team Singapore sailing team of Jovin Tan Wei Qiang, 28, and Yap Qian Yin, 24, has won the first gold medal in the Hansa303Double Handed event at the 2nd Asian Para Games.
The duo finished top after a consistent and dominating performance by winning 7 out of 9 Races in the Hansa 303 Double Handed.
The duo took first place in the final Race 9 to come in first overall, the Singapore Disability Sports Council said in a statement today.
Team Singapore’s other team of Aaron Per, 17, and Ng Xiu Zhen, 30, was placed fourth in the same event.
Singapore’s medal tally at the Games is now one gold, one silver and four bronze. Two of the bronze medals were won by bowlers, while Theresa Goh won one silver and two bronzes in separate swimming events.
