Special birth cert for SG50 babies
Babies born next year will be given a special birth certificate, among other things, as part of the SDG50 celebration of Singapore’s 50 years of nationhood. Other items in the Jubilee Baby gift package that would be given away include a commemorative medallion and a baby sling. Ideas like a family photo frame, scrapbook and diaper bag were also short-listed.
 

“No definitely” to vandalism in Toa Payoh and SMRT cases: Indranee Rajah
Senior Minister of State for Law and Education Indranee Rajah had voiced out her displeasure about the two incidents of vandalism that happened last week. The first was an open insult to the People’s Action Party at the top of a HDB flat in Toa Payoh, and the second was to a train at Bishan MRT depot. ““If you have a viewpoint that you wish to express, there are ways and means of expressing it. You do not have to damage property to do that,” Ms Rajah was reported as saying.
 
Tougher laws against animal abuse?
Minister of State for National Development Desmond Lee indicated that his Ministry is looking at strengthening laws against animal abuse. “How you treat animals – like many other things that you deal with in life – is a reflection of how as a society we are maturing, (how) we’re advancing, and so it’s important for us to look at this aspect as well,” he was reported as saying.

新柔捷运仍在谈判中 马国交长陆兆福:双方已达成“一致理解”

随着新柔捷运(RTS)项目展延期限(9月30日)将至,马来西亚交通部长陆兆福于昨日(19日)声称,新马已达成部分“一致的理解”,针对特定细节进行协商。 据《东方日报》报导,陆兆福周一(19日)为《中马港口联盟第4次会议》主持开幕仪式后,向记者透露,双方政府目前正针对细节进行协商,也会见新加坡交通部长许文远,以求达成双方一致的理解。 “我们都非常清楚新柔捷运的重要,所以目前正紧锣密鼓的为此事规划。事实上,我上月也会见了新加坡交通部长许文远,并达致了一些理解,惟还需要将细节整理出来。” 对此,交通部发言人则向《亚洲新闻台》表示,“目前双方尚在商讨中,务求双方能达成共识。然而,讨论正在进行,所以我们并不会对此作出任何评论。” 新柔捷运于2018年1月签署新柔捷运双边合作,捷运将衔接新山武吉查卡至兀兰北站,全程长4.2公里,每小时可运送约1万名乘客,预料可将两国之间超过1小时的行程缩短至30分钟。 该项目预计于2024年完成,却因经历马国改朝换代,新政府曾表示难以负担所需建设和征地成本,于是在2019年5月21日签署了项目延期协议。 根据协议,项目建设推迟直到2019年9月30日,马来西亚将向新加坡支付约600万新元,作为项目暂停期间新加坡维护相关设施的费用。 根据新柔捷运双方2018年1月签署的双方协议,新加坡地铁和马来西亚国家基建公司应于去年6月30日前成立合营公司,并于2018年9月30日前,在交通管理局和马国政府的特许下,指明该合营公司为马新捷运营运商,但均被延误。 期间,将由马来西亚决定是否继续执行项目,马来西亚也可提出任何项目改变,而我国将根据其项目改变斟酌。 许文远补充道,延期期限将会拖延工程完成的日子,而陆兆福则表示,项目成本将是考量的重点,会透过这期限内商讨各项可行之路。
