Malaysia Airlines (MAS)’s flight, MH192 has landed safely in Kuala Lumpur (KUL) international airport (KLIA) after turning back due to the malfunction of its landing gear.
(MAS) had earlier posted in its official Twitter account,: “Flight MH192 that departed from KUL at 10.09pm bound for Bangalore has made an air turn-back towards KUL. More details to follow.”
No further information was given till a media release was released half an hour later on its facebook account ,
“Sepang, 21 April 2014: Malaysia Airlines confirms that flight MH192 that departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 10.09pm bound for Bangalore has made an air turn back towards Kuala Lumpur. The aircraft’s right-hand landing gear malfunctioned upon takeoff and is expected to make an emergency landing at KLIA at around 2.00am, today.
Flight MH192, operated on the B737-800 aircraft, was scheduled to arrive in Bangalore at 11.35pm the same day. The flight was carrying a total number of 166 people on board which include 159 passengers and 07 crew members.
Malaysia Airlines is currently working with the Airport Fire Rescue Services (AFRS) in anticipation of the landing.
The airline will provide regular updates on the situation.”
At around 2.10am, MAS released another twitter post which gave relief to everyone waiting for the updates. The plane had landed safety at Kuala Lumpur Airport at 1.56am.
Just a few days ago, MAS said a technical defect of an engine on its 747-400 saw the London-bound MH2 flight, originally scheduled to depart KLIA at midnight of 16th April, to be rescheduled to the next morning.
These series of accidents follow the mysterious disappearance of MH370 which was carrying 12 Malaysian crew members and 227 passengers on 8th March 2014. Till today, the plane has not been found and the search for MH370 continues.
