Press Release from NUS Chinese Dance
NUS CHINESE DANCE, a member of NUS Centre For the Arts
1932013_10152223540526070_1469314596_nEstablished in 1977, NUS Chinese Dance is an accomplished dance troupe with well over 80 members who are guided by Ms. Ding Hong, Resident Choreographer, and Mr. Zhou Lei, Technique Instructor.
Its recent accomplishments have been nothing short of stellar. In October 2011, the troupe collaborated with the internationally-acclaimed Beijing Dance Academy for its 35th anniversary production Rhythm of Life VI: Efflorescence. The troupe subsequently fielded a group of 16 dancers to compete in the prestigious 10th Tao Li Cup 2012 in Anhui, China, clinching the Third Grade ranking despite heavy competition from professionally-trained dancers. In 2013, NUS Chinese Dance was part of NUS Arts Festival 2013:Mirror.Moon and had the valued opportunity to work with award-winning guest choreographer Mr Wang Cheng (China). Mirror.Moon was eventually awarded for “Event of the Year” of Tan Ean Kiam Arts Awards 2013, and Bronze award of Arts & Culture category of Student Achievement Award 2014.
While NUS Chinese Dance continually strives to stay true to traditional Chinese dance forms, the troupe is also keen to explore new styles and choreography. Through close partnership link ups with the NUS Center For the Arts and various external engagements, it aims to foster expertise and experience in not just Chinese dance, but an appreciation for Chinese culture as well and to bring this unique art form to the masses.
NUS Chinese Dance is glad to be selected to be part of International Youth Dance Festival 2014 in Macau, later this July.
Our production: Timeless Love

Our production seeks to explore the enduring nature of love by bringing the audience on a journey through time. Beginning with the bustle of our modern society, we trace heart-warming stories of love back into the early ages of Chinese civilization. Witness the unfolding of these poignant tales through three unique acts that depict unconditional familial love, the flames of romantic passion and the lasting friendships forged between who were once strangers. An ever-changing sand painting sets the backdrop for these timeless narratives of hope, loss, faith and love as our dancers move you with their grace and finesse.

 “忆生所爱”对人一生中超越时空的爱进行回忆与反思,它与永恒不变的沙画相互照应,让大家在享受表演艺术的同时也体验视觉艺术之美。演出由一个个暖心的小故事串联而成三幕精心编排的舞蹈,展现了无私的亲情、浪漫且激情似火的爱情还有跨越永恒的友情。舞者用她们优美的舞姿诉说出了迷失、希望、信念和永恒的爱。
