Viddsee launches mobile web app for growing mobile video audience, partners National Museum of Singapore to showcase 10 years of Singapore short films

Viddsee recently launched a new mobile web app to provide a seamless experience for its growing mobile user base. The Singapore-based startup sets its eyes to become the leading online micro-cinema platform for Southeast Asia.

Viddsee is a targeted online video platform for short films around Southeast Asia. With 40% of Viddsee audience on mobile, the new mobile web app enables audience to discover, watch and share regional content right at their fingertips on any mobile devices.

Since the launch of its desktop web app in late January, Viddsee has partnered with filmmakers and film festivals to bring curated channels of content. The platform has also opened call for submissions where regional content creators can submit their films or audience can recommend films to showcase on Viddsee. Here’s a breakdown around the films and audience consumption patterns:

  • 40% of audience consume short films on mobile
  • Short films have been watched from 98 different countries on Viddsee
  • Majority of viewers watch 6-10 min short films
  • Top 3 popular topics are Family, Love and Loss

Viddsee is partnering with the National Museum of Singapore’s Cinémathèque to make 10 years worth of selected Singapore short films available for online viewing. From 15th July onwards, the public can watch these films for free at www.viddsee.com, in the lead-up to this year’s 10th Singapore Short Cuts held at the Museum in August. Singapore Short Cuts is one of the most popular and widely anticipated showcases of local short films in Singapore. The programme features a diverse selection of Singapore short films from documentaries to animation and experimental work with post-screening discussions with the filmmakers.

Part of online showcase films include K Rajagopal’s “The New World”, Anthony Chen’s “G-23”, Sherman Ong’s “State of Things”, Jow Zhi Wei’s “Outing” and Tan Pin Pin’s “80km/hr”.
