Town Councils has no solution for killer litter

Dear MP Sapari

With reference to your reply, I would like to put my feedback into perspective.

Let’s recap some of the recent feedback as you appear not to have understood the issue/given a wrong impression by TC staff. (below)

There is a consistent pattern of turning a blind eye to every one of these object.  Does MP Sapari believe these to be merely coincidental?  Why have you not implemented a proper system of checks?

Are most of the MPs not bothered because they do not live in public housing estates?

Some of these took repeated feedback and months to be removed.

There are also structures which were erected at least 5 to 10 years ago which have remained invisible to TC officers and RC members. Estate management has become a joke.

I am contemplating setting up an individual blog for Pasir Ris estate to get the message across clearer.  I will also indicate the exact locations.

Unless urgent, I will not be corresponding with PRPTC further and will direct the MND to feedback on my blog.  If MP Sapari is agreeable to implementing a proper maintenance regime, I am willing to reconsider my position.

This must include the following:

• Conduct regular façade checks to reduce the possibility of killer litter incidents. (many objects have already fallen, are falling everyday)
• Regular inspections of void decks with the removal of abandoned/derelict bicycles, hundreds which have remained in their exact locations for years.
• TC must be proactive in advising residents on the removal of corridor clutter and not await this to feature in the TCMR.
• TC must engage residents directly on issues like dripping laundry, dripping air con, dog poo in common areas, pillars becoming dog urinals etc. instead of relying totally on posters/signages.
• Where some pet owners (and domestic helpers) have chosen to allow their dogs to excrete anywhere, education does no good and action needs to be taken.

I spoke to Manager Siew some 13 years ago, spoke to my RC on killer litter, corresponded with MND officers etc. The issue is more than just killer litter – there is simply no proper maintenance system at PRPTC and other TCs.

I have exhausted all channels of providing feedback to the government which has clearly not been listening.  It is not my intention to continue with this unproductive toing and froing, now into the 14th year. If your TC refuses to look at the issues objectively, RC members could have easily told you the facts as there is one member living in each block.  Since MP Sapari has not even done this, your seriousness on my feedback is therefore doubtful.  Or perhaps you are not in a position to effect meaningful changes with all the ongoing politics at TCs?

As I was returning home from breakfast this morning, guess what a 9th floor resident did? (many years ago, I highlighted a queen size mattress placed on top a parapet in Tampines)
