Madam Vallema will have her Day in Court

In light of the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) response from The Straits Times article (12th May 2012, 'Bid for open court hearing withdrawn'), Madam Vellama has decided to press on with her lawsuit. This unexpected turn of events seems to have been spurred by the AGC statement that Madam Vella's "…proceedings are ill-conceived to begin with, and if they are continued, Madam Vellama risks being penalised in costs".

She is now determined to resolve the constitutional question – Does the Prime Minister have unfetterd executive powers relating to the matter of by-elections? As a matter of principle not just for herself but for the democratic rights of all Singaporeans.

Letter to AGC 13th May 2012
