Firstly we would like to thank you for your kind donations to help us cover some of the costs of our recent Face to Face 2 forum. At the same time, we have received some enquiries as to why the name on our Paypal account is to ‘Joshua Chiang’ and not ‘The Online Citizen’.
We would like to clarify that this is due to the fact that the banks will not allow us to open a bank account in the name of The Online Citizen, and so this is the work-around we’ve employed. Our account is jointly in the name of Joshua Chiang and Siew Kum Hong, both who are members of the core team.
To ensure accountability and transparency, we will publish an annual report (complete with a financial statement) in early 2012. We also need to file annual reports with the government under the Political Donations Act.
