Court 22 at the Subordinate Courts.  This is where the hearing into the mysterious death of David Widjaja is now being held.

Professor Chan Kap Luk, who David is alleged to have stabbed, is not in court yet.

Lawyer Shashi Nathan, whom the Widjaja family has appointed to hold a watching brief at the Coroner’s inquest, will be addressing the press at the end of today’s proceedings.

Update:

The court decided that the hearing into the case will take place in two tranches. On May 20th, for five days thereon, the court will hear testimonies from the pathologist and from Professor Chan Lup Kup. The date of the second tranche of the hearing will be decided later when the pathologist comes back from her course from June 1st.

At the hearing today, David Widjaja’s family was in attendance. Their lawyer spoke to the media and said that the hearing will provide more details on the circumstances surrounding David’s death.

To a question by TOC, he said that the family will not be making the autopsy report public.
